About the Author
Shanice L. McLeish is a writer and grief advocate dedicated to creating spaces where children’s feelings are seen, honored, and validated. Her work centers on opening conversations around loss, reminding us all that children, too, carry profound emotions.
Shanice’s journey with grief began at just eight years old, when her father’s sudden passing in a car accident reshaped her world. From that moment, she has been a steadfast voice for grieving children, turning her personal loss into a lifelong mission of compassion, advocacy, and storytelling.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Kennesaw State University—concentrating in youth recreation and sports event management—and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Georgia State University. Beyond her academic achievements, Shanice brings years of leadership and lived experience to her work in grief education and facilitation.
When she’s not writing or supporting families, you can find Shanice on a hiking trail, experimenting in the kitchen, or laughing with her loved ones. She is an active volunteer with Kate’s Club, a community for grieving children, and proudly calls Atlanta, Georgia home—where she lives with her two dogs, Rocky and Summer.
